On 18 October 2005 the vessel was attacked by Somali pirates. The vessel was enroute South Africa to Turkey loaded with coal. A Ukrainian-based company that owned the ship paid $ 700.000 to a representative of the pirates in Mombasa (Kenya). The vessel was released on 25 November 2005.
